What is a Small Business?
In our definition of small business, any business with 100 employees or fewer, a category that includes about 80 percent of all Ghanaian businesses, of which majority has fewer than five employees. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of new businesses open their doors each year. This kind of growth is an indicator of the appeal of owning a small business in Ghana. (Or maybe it’s an indicator of the lack of appeal of working for someone else.) Not only do small businesses create opportunities for their owners, but they also create jobs.
